I'm leaving this review because I feel like it's necessary to counter some of the bad reviews. It's hard to say if Thrifty is often acting unscrupulous with people or some folks are naïve when renting a car. Before you rent you should know what your personal insurance covers (if you have auto insurance) and what supplemental coverage your credit card company offers. Assuming you don't want to buy the coverage, you have to make it clear that your not interested.
My visit here was relatively quick and painless. I arrived at the Rental Bus Stop at 9:47PM on Friday and had the keys to my car at 10:04PM. 17 minutes. There were 3 associates working the desk and one was available as I got there so I did not have to wait. I paid with credit card points prior to arrival and chose the manager's special. I was offered an upgrade and I declined. She reiterated the car would be small but I was fine with that. She then offered me insurance and I responded that I was not interested and thanked her. She started to explain the coverages and I interrupted her and said "I work in insurance and I understand what the coverages are. I'll assume the risk". She said "oh ok then" and that was it. She finished the contract, printed it and highlighted the facility charges I would owe.
When I returned the car, I presented the receipt for the one gallon of gas I used. I was charged nothing additional upon return. Just a run of the mill rental car experience. Oh and by the way, I was able to pick a Mazda 6 as the manager's special as they had not economy or compact cars. I always book the cheapest available car unless I need a bigger car because you often receive a free upgrade.
