| - My wife and I were out on a double-date with some friends of ours to a near by korean BBQ in Chinatown. He suggested we stop in to the Golden Tiki for drinks as he heard it was really cool. Having never heard of it myself, it sounded like a fun idea. Upon entering we were completely blown away! My wife and are huge Disneyland fans, and I knew it was going to be cool when the owner had a custom-made plaque at the front door that said, "Here you leave today and enter the world of yesterday, tomorrow, and fantasy", which is the same plaque that is mounted over the entrances at Disneyland.
As we entered, we had a a brief aroma of chlorine from the waterfalls and fountains inside but the instant we were in, the decor simply floored us. A grass hut, tons of high-end tiki decor, coves with tables to sit in, a gorgeous looking bar, and a fiber-optic night sky of stars in the ceiling. We walked around for a bit and instantly fell in love with the place. But would the service and drinks be as good as the layout? EVEN BETTER!
Our server approached us in traditional tiki Polynesian attire. She looked fantastic, as do all of the servers there, with great attention to detail in their hair and makeup. They all look like they just popped off a Sailor Jerry tattoo! Our server was very nice and explained the menu to us, told us her favorite drinks, and left us a few minutes to peruse the great list of mixology drinks. We all tried four different items and while they were a bit pricey, it was worth it considering the ambiance and the quality of ingredients. If you are coming to this bar with the intent of playing nickel video poker why you cry in your Bud Lite, this aint the place for you!
Shortly after we put in our order our drinks all arrived and they all had their own signature look to them. I had the Kahuna Swizzle, which tasted like a classic 50's style cocktail. My wife had the Golden Tiki which was fruity but very tasty and the ginger inside added a nice bite to the drink. My friend had never once indulged in the famous Dole pineapple whip they serve at Disneyland so he ordered the Painkiller, which ad the dole whip in it (another awesome DL parallel) and he loved it. his wife had a Kalani's Sunrise, which she loved. We all shared sips from each-others drinks and every one was just as awesome as the other.
Vegas really needs more hidden gems like this one and I'm already rounding up friends to share this place with. This place is 5-star all the way!
