I used to be a regular here.. with an average of 2-3 times per week; however, I have really stopped going due to the fact that the lines are longer and longer and that the food is more expensive each time I go. Items that were $4-5 or $9-12 are now in the range of $8-12 and $13-18. This is just absurd for some chicken and broccoli. Chinatown is lined with good Vietnamese restaurants and same cold service without the wait.
Pho Kim's food is delicious with a much bigger menu, but I'll rather take my business elsewhere since they have gotten so greedy and have forgotten the locals who have kept them in business for the last 15 years or so. Side note: I ordered chicken and string beans (which was always on the menu, now showing as chicken and greens) and there was a $3 up charge for the beans. REALLY? The cashier was so rude, saying how expensive the beans are and that otherwise I'll get bok choy. The order cost me $20 -- $20 for a dish that is $8,75 at ANY amazing Chinese restaurant. This was the last time I paid Pho Kim a visit. I was infuriated with the drive, the wait, the rudeness and extortion.
On another note, a server was asked about MSG content and it was divulged that they use Massive amounts of MSG in all of their food. If you feel super bloated or tired after eating at their restaurant, know that it is due to this nerve impulse transmitter that has been known to cause brain nerve damage in lab animals (unfortunately, for those little beings). This is one of the reasons why their food is so tasty and addicting. Take away the MSG and it's just plain ol' cup of noodles.
I'm happy taking it up the street when the cravings hit and saving a bunch of money while I am at it.
