| - Ah, Mountainside "Luxury" Apartments...you did me alright for about a year, but the last 6 months that I tacked onto my stay didn't go as smoothy. When my roomie and I first moved in, this place was great. We had gotten a great deal on the rent, the apt. was in clean, move-in ready condition, everything worked, and we were happy. The location is super convenient, there's a ton of shopping, eating, and other conveniences close by. The backdrop of the foothills was nice, and I did hike up there for the view on several occasions. The pool and hot tub were nice, although sometimes they smelled like they were over-chlorinated. The fitness center was pretty lackluster, but it got the job done.
Around the same time that we completed our year and went month-to-month, the issues began. I remember laying in bed one night, when I heard a high-pitched whistle, then a bang, then what sounded like a river...so I shot up and ran to the bathroom to find that my toilet had exploded(!) for no apparent reason. I had to shut the water off to prevent a small flood, and then it took almost a week to get it fixed. She was never quite the same after...
Then there was the A/C...it worked fine for a while, but around that one year mark it just decided to stop cooperating. In protest of our frequent use, it began to drip dirty, rusty water onto the carpet, leaving a nice permanent (and rather unappealing) stain, which of course, came out of our security deposit. We put in numerous service requests, but it never functioned properly for those last 6 months.
Office staff was generally very friendly, for a bit they had this smooookin' hot girl in there which always made paying rent a little less painful. It seemed like the quality of tenants began to deteriorate towards the end of my stay there, but that kind of thing can be relative. Despite the problems I addressed here, it's not a bad spot if you're looking for a relatively inexpensive apartment that is conveniently located and has decent amenities.
