| - UPDATE: I just found a recalled lamp at their store, how many more? The owners MUST know it is illegal to sell recalled merchandise, even by resellers, thrift shops, even at garage sales. " Prohibited Resale of Recalled Products in an Age of Thrift, Consignment, Pawn, Yard Sale, and Private Resale. The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) launched a public information and awareness campaign on its website dedicated to the resale marketplace. That secondary marketplace includes thrift stores, consignment stores, pawn shops"
The "vintage 70s" (I was told this by the cashier and the consignor) are 1990s made in China, with a plastic base- I did not know as the consignor packed them for me for my car. How "convenient" of him. He had painted the lampshades so every time I turn them on, the entire house smells like burning paint. It also makes the lamps worthless, as the painted shades dim the light to unusable levels.
I took a look at their "antique" (do they know what an antique is?? It is an item over 100 years old. Zinnia's has no antiques that I saw) kitchen items, saw a Wal-Mart pastry blender, rusted! for sale same price as new, ha ha. Also, a Ross Dress for Less glass bowl with silver plated ring and spoon. In fact, there are many Ross Dress for Less, Wal-mart, K mart and similar items listed as "vintage!" etc.
Here is my concern- and I feel I should contact the media. They have for sale in their store at least ONE recalled electrical item. As posted above, this is illegal, and they will be held financially culpable: a "Groovy!"(their description) of a "70s" quotes intentional, it is NOT 70s, but 1990s standing lamp they have for sale. Here is the very lamp listed on CPSC.gov: "Big Lots 5-Light Floor Lamp with multi-colored shades" haha, Big Lots! Antique, eh?? The lamp has a shock hazard. I am waiting for some sucker to buy this from them and get a nasty shock., then sue Zinnia's for selling recalled merchandise.
This is a glorified junk store. I know Phoenix people aren't very sophisticated when it comes to antiques or high end items, so many of Zinnia's product may seem novel or desirable to some people. It is a lot of discount store junk, passed off as antiques. Be careful when shopping here.
