I came here for the famous 24-Layer Chocolate Cake and overall it was good.
The cake is dense and it's nice to have the layers of cake with the rich ganache. It's tough for cakes to be moist, but this one did a pretty good job of that. It also wasn't too sugary-sweet like a lot of other cakes are. The issue I had with this cake was that it wasn't chocolaty enough. I could taste the cocoa, but I was expecting a bit more with the decadence or richness of the cake, especially with all the ganache that was there. I saw this featured on the Food Network's "The Best Thing I Ever Ate" and I can't say this would go anywhere on my list of the best things I've ever eaten...it was good, but not great. Many other reviewers mention the same thing and I should have listened because they were right.
The décor of this place is fantastic and also has great service. We also tried a Caesar Salad, which was good and their Duck Fat Fried Potato, which was really good. I would definitely come back here to try one of their steak options, but I don't think I'd come back for the cake since there are so many other options out there for incredible chocolate desserts.
