| - My 2 years at Tivoli was bittersweet. Unfortunately, mostly bitter than sweet. The apartments are very upscale and modern! The location is also ideal being close to the 95 and within walking distance of the Santa Fe Station Casino. However, the location also is on the outskirts of being classified under Section 8. Although this may be of some relief that Tivoli does not fall under that classification, it is in fact a HUD property. Statistically HUD properties tend to bring along a significant amount of crime and my stay, over an almost 2 year span, sadly lived up to that expectation. When there was not random utility doors being kicked in and flapping in the wind overnight, the front gate was never working and seemed to be constantly OPEN--for WEEKS at a time! The front office would make an excuse to prolong the days in which the gate was inactive and open. This was not a one time occurance either. My next big issue I had was with the pool. I leased an apartment poolside which was nice being able to walk right nextdoor for a swim or to layout whenever. The fact that the pool is open 24/7 is super convenient! However, the partying during the summer by a mostly underage, young crowd until 3 to 4am, was difficult to sleep. I have physically witnessed 3 fights, with police and even an ambulance called, and all happened late nights at the pool. So in retrospect, I would not recommend attending the pool late or living poolside unless noise and disturbances are not bothersome. On another note with the pool, it was frequently closed during the summer months for days at a time. The reasoning behind it was justifed due to the negligence of children throwing
sand into the pool as were other various contributing factors. Nonetheless, it seemed a little questionable when the pool was being closed almost one week a month due to 'cleaning'. I do recommend leasing an apartment closer to the front. I never had issues or knew of any who had them when residing closer to the front. My first apartment was closer to the middle and it was fairly obvious I had a drug dealer as a neighbor as there was plenty of supporting evidence. Anyway..A friend of mine I work with who is currently under a lease at Tivoli said there were letters given to the residents in May (5/2013), advising residents of recent breakins and to be on watch, etc.....I think you get the point now, right? Not to be completely biased though. Michelle from the office was great and professional. The few complaints and service requests I had were taken care of almost immediately. Lisa, the new manager, seems to be promising as well (the former manager and COMPLETE maintainenance team left for some unknown reason). The last thing I can be candid about is the infamous "security deposit(refundable)" on your application. Yeah, you can pretty much FORGET about that. It will ALWAYS be used as a cleaning fee! Search other reviews online as this seems to be a scam with ALL Ovation properties, as many former residents have expressed the same deception. Anyhow, there is your heads up!
