Through Costco I signed up with Sparkletts Water in the beginning of the year. I signed up 2 address's. 1 for my parent's address for $24.99/month for 5 bottle plan & the 2nd for my own address $14.99/month for 3 bottles.
Upon 1st delivery to my parents the guy told them that they can rent 2 delivery racks for free at their location. I also accepted my (1) free bottle rack holder for my location. I did not receive the first bill but there was a charge on my credit card. When I was finally able to access the website I could not see my bill. When the customer rep forwarded me the bill I discovered inaccuracies on the first 2 statements. I had been charged for 3 bottle racks @ $3+ each. She told me 2 of the 3 can be refunded for both months but the 3rd 1 was not included in the plan. I explained that this was not what the salesman had informed us and she agreed to credit it back. On the next bill I discovered not all was credited back as promised. Leading me to another call. I basically had to prove to them that they DID NOT REFUND the charges as promised and this took place over many calls & a basic math lesson.. Eventually fixed but the experience was aggravating to say the least. My 1st contact over the phone with the sales guy was that I should return the water dispenser that I bought at Costco and rent one free of charge as it was eligible with the plan I had. At his advice I wanted to but he just never called back. I let it go since I did like the one I had bought.
Scheduled delivery took place every other Friday (alternating locations). Because of this it can cause a discrepancy with billing if a 3rd Friday is in the month. When the guy comes on that 3rd Friday in the billing cycle if you take water you will be charged $6/bottle. So my parents ran out of water and on that third Friday in the billing cycle (which happened to be the start of next month) they decided to take all 5 of their bottles at one time assuming it was for that month only to end up paying the full $30 on top of regular rate. We paid for them... The issue that I have is the fact that there was no discussion of "we will charge you extra for this."
This basically happened again last month to them but this time it was not their fault. The delivery guy flat out left 3 bottles one week when they were not home, incurring a charge for the "6th bottle." So again it was paid for.
My aggravation with the website, misguided information, wrongful charges, and length of time & amount of calls required to resolve issues has lead me call last week & cancel my service and only maintain my parent's location.
Upon doing so this caused a service interruption for the delivery that should have taken place on Friday at my parent's house. This was because the sales guy misunderstood the request of cancellation at my location and thought it was for my parent's location. My parents contacted Sparkletts and found out why it had happened & the delivery guy made a trip over on Monday. I called Sparkletts today to VERIFY if my cancellation was corrected so that I will not be charged any further. I was advised because my location has received two bottles on the 27th of last month I will be charged regardless if I take the 3rd bottle. I want to get my money's worth so this obligates me to take advantage of the 3rd bottle slowing down the cancellation.
The idea of the water service I still like. The idea of Sparkletts and the service experience I do not. My parents have decided to keep their service for the time being because "it's just easier." The convenience of water being brought to them is without a price due to health. They increased their plan to avoid extra water charges.
Frankly I disagree but just wait until they experience what I have been dealing with for themselves. I will be looking for an better opportunity elsewhere for them and myself.
Lastly, I was never advised of the varying monthly delivery fee. I understand it but again it goes back to the fact the the service and product was not upfront in their billing practices.
For a service that was introduced to me through Costco I am extremely disappointed. I understand that this may not be the typical customer experience but this type of inaccuracy should not happen with any company. The website is not as customer friendly as it advertises and really cannot deliver the information it promises. It forces you to have to talk to a customer service representative who I have discovered are usually friendly however are typically unable to resolve the matter I have called about without a followup again generated on my behalf... This overall experience has led me to question what other things have I enrolled with through Costco and is this a sole issue with the water company... Although the statements I have made may come off as unorganized, I hope that the idea has been communicated as I do not have anymore TIME or ENERGY to waste on this subject. I am better off carrying bottles myself.
