| - We had lunch on a Saturday, the place was packed (always a good sign) and we had to sit outdoors...not a big deal because the water-misting system actually cooled us off. I had the classic Italian sandwich and it was...GREAT! A nice shot of espresso to go with, and one of my buddies got the Italian meatball sandwich (with cheese) he says it's awesome, and I always believe what he says, so it's awesome. A little side note, the deli and restaurant sit amidst an Italian grocery store and they actually had a couple items I had been searching all over for: hot giardinara mix and sport peppers. Yes, sport peppers are nowhere to be found in Phoenix...except at DeFalco's! In case you are wondering, sport peppers are the ones used in Chicago-style hot dogs, so you can't have an authentic Chicago-style hot dog without sport peppers, and you can't have sport peppers in Phoenix without visiting Defalco's. Actually, you should bring a few hundred dollars to blow in the grocery store because every item is unique, and you're going to want at least one of everything. You have been told. In conclusion, our afternoon at DeFalco's was pleasurable and out of the ordinary. I am looking forward to our next visit. Oh yeah, CANOLIS!
