| - I've tried many salons to achieve the sombré Balayage look, only to leave with a polite, "yup, looks great!" response to the stylists' inquiry and leaving with severe buyers remorse for spending $$$.
I am not a licensed cosmologist, but I do know how to do my own research. After watching many Youtube videos and reading reviews, everyone on the online board pointed to Sally's for supplies for my DIY adventure.
I went on a Sunday to a mostly empty store, found the Wella toners, developers, and demi dye with ease. At checkout they really try to talk up their Sally's Beauty Card that costs $5 but gets you a discounted price on their products. I can see if I was a frequent shopper how this could be advantageous, however, not knowing how this DIY was going to go (could end up at the salon again for an emergency save), I passed.
The cashier did offer some tips, some of which aligned with my research, some contradicting information. That could be because everyone's hair is so different and reacts differently to hair treatments, so just be sure to do your own research and take their advice as a reference, not the bible.
They do have a policy for their toners and dye, where if you did a strand test and didn't like the result or it was not up to your expectations, you have 30 days to return your purchase for money back.
Be sure to save your receipt, as there's a 15% off coupon on your next purchase of $20!
