  • We have had several attempts to give a Yelp review by this company. We wanted to wait in trepidation because of the emotional nature of real estate, and for the moving parts that took place within our transaction. After our close, and after the purchase of our next home (not using momentum) we decided to detail out the good and the interesting pieces of our experiences with Momentum. First of all this group is a young excited bunch of young professionals. Their personalities were nice to work with, but we can tell with a different agent in purchasing our new home- there was a lot still to be learned with time in the industry. This is not a knock on their ages, or professionalism, but rather an interesting point of view in hindsight. We went with Kelly upon the recommendation of our neighbor who was showing our apartment and we cut ties. Kelly went to our same college, and we had mutual friends and so we went with her. Unfortunately she went on maternity leave as our apartment right before our apartment went under contract. The next individual, was young and excited- but wouldn't be an agent we would have chose for ourselves. Our apartment was on the market for a year, which is interdependent of anything they could have done- and a bummer for us, however it sat for a year on the market after price drops. We got a call every week from an assistant who would give repetitive information to us, when we were the ones approving showings. We still aren't sure why that happened. We went under contract 3 times, one of the times we went under the agent asked us to sign a document stating Kelly was not forcing us to adhere to the transaction. Kelly stated she had never heard this, however in hindsight we should have been less amused in humor and more confused with what was happening to the deal- which later fell through. Really with real estate there is no knowing, everything seems to have to line up- but it is something to note, and something I would want any girlfriend to know who I would refer to Momentum. When they would do open houses, they would knock on our neighbors doors to invite them over, this was part of their strategy and while creative was a bit interesting. The listing agent at the time, was quite young and didn't know much about neighborhoods as we would have liked or preferred so we decided not to go with her when we re bought our home, nothing to her detriment she was just very young and inexperienced for a huge investment. When we asked her if she had ever worked with families, her response was that she had nieces or nephews which was an interesting response and our red flag to not use them to buy. They tried very hard, and were newer to the profession. When our apartment did sell, it sold to an investor who owned in our upscale apartment community who sold it a month later for over 40,000.00 later (still pending) which was a disappointment. Our community had a average listing date of 111 days at the time. It was a learning experience in real estate, as first time owners- however the market and other factors are certainly not to the detriment of the company. My only review is the high enthusiasm, excitability, and creative strategies is that they seem to be evolving which is good of a company in an industry that is mirrored in evolution. There were some downsides, while Kelly was fantastic- we wouldn't have chose for ourselves her replacement whom was unavailable (often times at a bible study unable to be reached for the afternoon and entirety of the evening during our inspection period), not receptive to our communication style when under contract, and confusing in his approach to negotiate. We also did the work of researching the buyer, whom was an investor with intent to rent. We let them know our concerns and they seemed receptive to our concerns which is all you can ask, however just a note to the inter-workings of working with a team rather than a single realtor. They are certainly a good group of people with great intentions however they were a newer group of professionals with the intent to be high quality. While they are supportive and positive, I could have traded some of the personality for more institutional knowledge and direction.
