| - This place's website calls themself an English pub and "purveyors of pub food and drink", but they are definitely not a pub. The first floor is a bar, and the top two floors are night clubs or places that can be rented out.
Went to check out this place about a week after opening, and was less than impressed. Their staff were very friendly, but the atmosphere just wasn't there. Besides a few TVs on the walls, and two hugely boomy speakers, there was basically no decor up at all that would make this place seem like a nice pub or even a bar. It was very echoey because of all the bare hard surfaces throughout. There were also very few tables. It's mostly open space on the main floor.
Went with the chicken burger, and it was just terrible - it was the first time in my life that I ever sent anything back. I'll credit that to them having some opening week wrinkles that still need ironing out. Combined with the complete lack of atmosphere, however, the awful chicken burger just made this place worth one star at best. Was looking forward to a new pub in the neighbourhood, but I'm afraid this won't be my place.
Another member of my group had a regular burger and he said it was good. Two other people had the fish and chips and they were decent; dripping in grease, but decent. So, maybe you just need to avoid the chicken burger.
In the interests of giving a new business a chance, it might be worth checking out - perhaps they can make some improvements. But, don't set your expectations too high...
