| - Took the BLS class yesterday with tom and I really enjoyed the class! The facility is nice, Tom is great, and it's a family owned business. I really wish there was more transparency on the length of the class as it was not listed on the website or when making the appointment . I had work and assumed the class would be between 2-2 1/2 hours based on previous BLS courses taken but the class was about 4 hours long. Another thing, I was a little concerned about sanitization of the equipment used. When it came time to practice our skills, I took my mask out of the container and it was clear it had not been cleaned since the last class. It was fogged up, damp, and after inspection it was wet with saliva. At first I thought maybe it was sanitizer but it was absolutely wet from the previous class blowing into the mask. Although fresh mouth pieces were provided to put on the mask, the actual mask itself should be cleaned because putting your hands and mouth near wet saliva is unsanitary. The mannequins were a bit concerning too, they had a plastic sheet over the mouth area which I'm assuming is changed out but when you're dealing with a classroom environment, anything being touched should be sterilized including the perimeters of the mannequins, knee pads, masks, etc. I suggest maybe starting a sanitization station where before the class is over, everyone grabs their practice tools and sets them in a specific bin to be cleaned or offer wet wipes to let the student clean them off before being used. Overall I did really enjoy the class, it was informative, helpful, entertaining, and Tom is really great. I would recommend it but maybe just double check that your equipment is clean and if not request a new mask, mannequin, or whatever else!
