| - Freedom Clothing Collective is a lovely little boutique. The staff are all-volunteer and the store only stocks hand-made clothing and wares from local, Canadian designers and artists. The selection is thoughtful, hip, eye-pleasing but also very functional.
They've got up-cycled funky old 80's sweater fabric re-worked into long gloves, patchwork pillows, antique porcelain jewelry, silk-screened tea towels, purses, and one of a kind hats. Vintage fabric business card holders and wallets, plus seasonal gifts like heart-shaped lavender-filled pillows, cards, and lots more.
Many items I came across at the One of Kind Show in 2010 I already knew from seeing/buying them in this shop.
The stock is refreshed weekly but items are limited so stop by often. Ladies, if you buy your clothing here you will never run into someone wearing the same outfit, guaranteed. I'd like to get everyone I know wearing their 'I (bicycle silihouette) T.O.' t-shirts.
Sometimes they feature the paintings of local artists and I've yet to see an installation I did not admire (think: modern still life, religious iconography mixed with wildlife, etc.).
I can't emphasize this enough though; Gifts, gifts, gifts. Gentlemen, don't be afraid, there's stock for you too but more importantly, this is where you should gift-shop for that special someone.
