| - Three of us just had a wonderful dinner at Vic & Anthony's. We had an early reservation on Sat. We got there on time and were seated at a comfortable table right away. The room is very comfortable, lots of wood and stained glass and two of us noticed that it was a nice change that we were able talk with out shouting even though the room was busy. Our waiter, Vic, was wonderful, very professional, and helped us thru a couple high maintenance food allergy food requests. I started with a crab cake - excellent, no noticeable filler, just good well seasoned crab. My friends liked their salads. I had one of the best veal chops ever, my friends had a steak and a lobster tail, both excellent, the steak cooked perfectly. The sides are big enough to share. I thought the au gratin potatoes might have been a bit too cheesy, but still quite delicious. The wines by the glass seemed reasonable, for vegas, and the pinot noir I had was a good choice, our waiters recommendation, with the veal. The deserts were good, I had a flourless chocolate cake and it was one of the richest, best ever. We casually mentioned during the meal that all three of us were celebrating our birthdays and when the check came, the deserts had been comped. Yay! nice touch. Thanks guys. I only have one complaint - when our waiter delivered our steaks, he asked us to cut into the middle to check that they were cooked correctly. I HATE THAT!!!! I expressed my hatred to that bullshit practice, perhaps a bit too enthusiastically, to our waiter. It's not voodoo, its a matter of temperature and if the "cooks" cant tell if the steaks are cooked to order, they shouldn't be in the kitchen or just use an instant read thermometer. In a dim room, cutting into the center is a crap shoot, you cant see well. and even if you can, I don't want to. Hopefully he passed my message on to management. All in all, it was an excellent dinner. Everything, food, service and ambience were great. I plan on returning soon.
