| - I used to have a hard time imagining "American cuisine". You can find a thousand Italian, French, Indian, and Thai restaurants in every city in the country, but what sort of food is truly American? Is it fast food? Popcorn? Hot dogs? Zink can provide the answer. American food may be closely related to those simple favorites - hamburgers, meatloaf, macaroni and cheese - but it can be more than you ever imagined. Each seasonal menu takes the fantastic foods you grew up with and recreates a restaurant-quality version. American Kitchen, indeed.
Everyone raves about their burgers (and with good reason) but you should BE BOLD and trust that everything on the menu will be as good as you hope. It will be. Even the salmon, usually a risky choice in North Carolina, is a safe bet here. My personal favorite is their mac 'n' cheese. It is a thousand times better than Kraft.
I have also stopped in for Sunday brunch, which was buffet-style with the chef preparing a number of creations fresh, on demand. The menu has changed since then, but I'm sure it is just as flawless. Pulled pork sliders, anyone?
And every time I've been here the service has been exceptional: not just polite, but entertaining. For example, the aforementioned brunch devolved into an impromptu napkin-folding class. I guarantee a good time.
