Parents beware! Although I could write a novel about how terrible this place is I will TRY to sum it up in hopes that I save children and parents from the same awful experience my family went through.
Here is a summary of what I found at Glenashton:
1.Diaper Change infrequency - My baby goes to the bathroom quite frequently and she would be completely soiled (few lbs diaper) each time I went there. My child would have constant diaper rashes and before I realized that it was due to the daycare's negligence I just assumed that she was just very sensitive. When I discovered that the daycare was not changing her I immediately spoke to the manager there who assured me that it would not happen again....not long after it happened again. I picked up my baby one day early to find that she had been sitting in her feces for a minimum of an hour (basically if your child doesn't want to nap they just rest there, which is fine by me, but if they happen to poop while they are resting then expect them to lay there for however long it takes for 'nap time' to be over. I get it, babies sometimes poop in their sleep...but if they are awake and moving around why not just change them? effort I guess..
2. Total disregard for special instructions - I had asked the daycare to not warm up my daughters bottle in the microwave. One day when I came unexpectedly my daughters bottle was right there in the microwave....they had tried to make up some ridiculous lie about keeping the bottle in there because it was hot or something of that nature...
3. Staff that really does not care - I voiced my concerns immediately and I have to say that the manager there was very nice and seemed like she was going to take care everything. I obviously could not check up on my daughter every day so I assumed that things were being taken care of. After a few days I came to pick her up to find her in a diaper that must have been a few lbs....yet again.
4. Staff who are very questionable - I called the manager one day and was told she was not there so I told the girl who picked up the phone that I would call back because I only wanted to deal with her. The girl insisted that I could talk to her but I refused. I called back a few hours later and the girl pretended to be the manager. I immediately knew it was not the manager as I had spoken to her several times before and knew her voice very well. So I confronted her and the girl just said that 'she had a cold' and her voice was raspy. I drove over there immediately and wasn't surprise to find that the girl was in fact pretending to be the manager. What kind of people that run a daycare do that?
In conclusion, if you send your infant to Glenashton expect that they will not be changed when needed, your special requests will be ignored, and the staff that manages the place will lie to you.
Daycare's are supposed to be places where you send your children and have peace of mind that they are being well taken care of....Glenashton is certainly not one of them.
P.s. the reason I was able to learn all these things is because I work from home and was able to check in once in a while. Before I started doing surprise checks everyone would be sitting singing Kumbaya at the end of each day, looking like everything was perfect. At first I was very happy with the place. Its not difficult to gather children, change them, and make them look like they are having a great time when it's time for parents to pick them up. Just some food for thought....
