I thought the inside of this place was quite charming. The engraved pictures on the walls bordering the stage are lovely and I thought it had a lot of character. It is quite big, bigger than I had anticipated it to be. There was ample room for people to stand at the concert I attended as well as a decent sized balcony. They had two bars set up during the show, the drinks were reasonably priced and the service was fast from what I saw.
I saw my favorite band here (Grizzly Bear - check them out) and I generally don't review the venue. However, although the band was absolutely incredible, I felt the rude staff and security really took a lot away from the experience for me and I left with a bad taste in my mouth when I should have been ecstatic.
The band was selling a variety of merchandise by the doors. About 10 minutes after the show was over we went over to take a look at what they were selling. When we realized we really wanted a few of the items we went looking for an ATM, luckily there was one here... But it was broke. I was really disappointed and judging by other people who also realized it was broke they looked pretty disappointed too.
We approached a security guard and asked if there was another ATM we could go to. He informed us that there were none. I was clearly upset at this point, I had spent a lot of money to travel here to see my favorite band and just wanted to walk away with a souvenir, so I asked if there were any close to the venue. He informed me that if I wanted to leave the venue I couldn't get back in. This was no more than TEN minutes after the show ended. I completely and totally understand that they obviously need to close the door to the public after the show is over for security reasons, but the ATM was broke and there were a handful of people that wanted merch that couldn't get it. They should have allowed us to go to an ATM and then come back if we showed our tickets.
Thanks to the security here, I didn't enjoy the concert as much as I should. I'm sure the band wouldn't be pleased to know that they probably missed out on about $400 worth of sales because of this stupid rule.
