| - I would give this a better rating but this rating is purely based on Dylan King; he's a salesman at mountainside and he's extremely manipulative. Mountain side overall is an amazing gym, just look at their website or ask for a tour. The staff there are top notch with the exception of Dylan King.
I believe businesses are ethically obligated to look out for their customers. But with regards to Dylan King, he thrives off manipulation and corrupt business practices most likely for personal gains at the expense of other people. I refuse to be quiet about this and strongly caution anyone considering doing any business with Dylan King. If you run into him ask for a different salesperson. Everyone else there is awesome as far as I know; so just avoid Dylan King.
Dylan manipulated me into signing a scam like contract. I originally wanted to do personal training through April, but unfortunately something unexpected came up and now I have to move out of Arizona. At first Dylan convinced me that I would be best off paying the contract of $400 for 12 personal training sessions based on what I told him I was looking for. He withheld the non refund information from me and I would've had to do a lot of thinking to catch the scam before signing. He said I needed to commit to the contract immediately or else I would've had to pay a lot more for something like pay as you go. I could've paid $120 for 3 personal training sessions when my unexpected situation arose which is all I am able to do because I will no longer be in the area. Because Dylan urged me to sign the contract immediately, that gave him all the leverage he needed. There is no way to opt out of the contract I signed and now I'll end up paying $400 for just 3 personal training sessions. There are no opt out fees, refunds, or anything.
Before that debacle Dylan bait and switched me by saying the price for 12 personal training sessions is $200 the first time I inquired about it but then said it was suddenly $400 when I was ready to pay and commit. When I asked for a refund, he taunted me and said "That's why we have contracts" and "I can't do anything about it, and if I could I wouldn't." He used a typical business-like manipulative strategy into pressuring me to sign a contract immediately so he had the upper hand.
Yes I signed that contract and that was my doing, but if you think taking advantage of someone's mistake to get more money is wrong, I urge you to never even consider doing business with Dylan King.
Not only was Dylan very rude to me, he didn't refer me to talk to anyone else, including management. I eventually called management and I'll still end up paying $400 total for just 3 personal training sessions. That seems very dubious and unethical to me. So I strongly caution any future or current customers when deciding to sign contracts at mountainside. It's kinda run like a car dealership (Dylan compared my situation to buying a car) but I don't recall gyms having those kinds of contracts and commitments.
