Tonight was my first time dining at any Del Frisco's location. I have been looking forward to trying it and thought I'd give it a whirl during restaurant week so I made reservations. They have valet available curbside. We arrived at 6:45 for our 7 pm reservation for three people. We were seated at 7:05. Unfortunately, they seated us at a table upstairs which did not work for us as one of the diners in our group cannot walk long distances or climb stairs due to health reasons. This isn't the restaurants fault and I didn't know there were two floors or I would have asked for a table downstairs upon making the reservation. They have an elevator but unfortunately, in order to get to the elevator you have to walk all the way through the restaurant. Wasn't a big deal for me personally but was for one member in our party and could be for others in the future if you aren't aware. We dined during Restaurant Week and ordered from the special menu. I ordered the seasonal salad, 8 oz filet Oscar style with potatoes, and cheesecake. They brought complimentary bread after we waited for service at the table for 15 minutes. It was a loaf of white bread covered in sesame seeds. Basically a glorified sesame seed bagel. It was a Monday night and they were busy because of restaurant week but the service was ridiculously slow. It should not have taken 2.5 hours for three people to eat. It was a 30 minute wait from the time we ordered to receive our soup/salad. The salad was very dry. The lobster bisque was extremely salty. I've had better off the hot bar at Harris teeter down the street for a lot less. It had exactly two small pieces of lobster in it. It was another long wait for our entrees to arrive. The chateau potatoes were delicious and the steak was cooked perfectly. I ordered mine Oscar style like I have many other times at other dining establishments. I think it ruined the steak at Del Frisco's. You couldn't taste any crab and the asparagus was extremely undercooked. All I could taste for the remainder of the meal was the undercooked asparagus unfortunately. Hours later and I can still taste it. Waited another 20 minutes for our deserts even though we ordered them at the beginning of the meal. Don't get me wrong, the cheesecake was delicious but it didn't taste like any cheesecake I had ever had before. It was light and airy. I really enjoyed it.
I've heard such amazing things about this chain and how I have to check it out. All three of us were very disappointed in the experience. The food was we subpar, the service was slow, it was extremely loud and crowded. I have read that they have good happy hour specials so I might give them another chance and try those out one night. It's nothing special and especially once you take into account how expensive the meal is.
