I have been dissatisfied with CenturyLink from the start. CenturyLink was recommended to me by a coworker for the high speeds and reasonable prices, but the amount of back and forth I had to do with them was not worth it.
I prefer to have my own modems so that I do not have to pay the rental fee each month. It was a pain in the ass to find a modem labeled for CenturyLink as major companies like Walmart, Target, and Fry's Electronics did not carry them. When I did find one, it was still not compatible. The associate at one of the locations stated that CenturyLink had been making compatible modems non-compatible so that you were required to rent from them. Set-up was impossible for me from that point on.
After this fiasco trying to get my house set up for internet, I cancelled my service. I had the service for 2 days. The credit on my account ($30) would not be refunded for up to 3 months. Today I called as the check had been issued, but it had been sent to the wrong address because they did not put my apartment number in the address.
I do not write reviews frequently, but this is by far the worst service I have ever received from a company. CenturyLink gets 1 star from me as all of the people I have talked to have been helpful and polite. I would not recommend this service.
