| - I'm honestly teetering between 2 and 3 stars, but I think I've got to go with 2, because I left thinking, "eh, it was ok, but it could have been so much better."
Some positives:
1. Great location for going to a movie at the Harkins theater at Scottdale 101
2. Great ambiance.
3. Attentive & clean cut waitstaff.
4. Bread made on location is a GREAT touch.
Negatives:
1. I went with a friend. I ordered the French Dip, she ordered a vegetarian pizza. My sandwich was out a full 5 minutes before her pizza. That's not acceptable in my book.
2. The French dip was over-salted, and the meat tasted slightly old.
3. The friend I was with took a bit of time to figure out what she wanted, and the guy who kept checking back to get our order was visibly irritated. I'll be honest that had I been our waiter, I'd have been a bit irritated too... but I wouldn't have shown it so blatantly.
4. There was maybe 2.5 to 3 oz of meat on my sandwich... a $13 sandwich!
5. The sandwich came with fries that were clearly frozen fries, not made on site. I can't believe they go to the trouble to make their own bread, but order in fries. What a difference that would have made if they made their own fries... or at least ordered in a better frozen brand. For roughly the same price for a sandwich at the Green House, I get MUCH better fries.
6. The side salad accompanying the sandwich was bitter. If you're using bitter greens, you need to compensate with a different (sweeter) dressing. The salad was really just "blah".
Because my food was sub par given the price, and the service was just not what I'd call "A-OK", I'm giving this a two star. In all honesty, it wouldn't take much to get up to 3 or even 4 stars. But it's those little extra steps that take so much effort and a diligent management.
I had SO wanted to like this place too.
