  • During my two recent family stay cations on the Las Vegas Strip, there was a dining experience in the Grand Lux Cafe. They were grand luxury dining experiences that were reasonably priced. Before reporting on my two recent dining experiences in The Grand Lux Cafe back in late March and May, I will bring up a few facts about the glorified cafe of the Palazzo Resort. First, the menu is large covering a selection of food ranging from baguettes to salmon and from $6.95 to $33.95. Second, the Cheesecake Factory is the parent company. That is not surprising considering how large the menu is. Third, Grand Lux Cafe features a bar plus an in-house bakery. And fourth, Grand Lux Cafe rocks. I will elucidate why on the preceding paragraphs. The two times that my family and I dined in the Grand Lux Cafe were before a show. The funny thing is that in its own way, Grand Lux Cafe is similar to a show. The stage is an elegant restaurant and the delicious menu items are the stars. The Grand Lux Cafe dining environment compliments the elegance and luxury of the Palazzo. The marble floors, textures, fabrics, silverware, handkerchief napkins, and interior create a sense of dining in an elegant restaurant. In reality this is an upscale Cheesecake Factory. The first time we dined here we sat deep inside the restaurant with a view overlooking the bar. On the follow-up visit, we sat in the indoor patio overlooking the Palazzo casino. On the first visit, I enjoyed the lunch special salmon piccata with a creamy lemon sauce with capers, artichokes, and mushrooms over a steamed rice. The entry for this meal was around $15. I ordered a Coke that added to the price. This meal left me satisfied. On the second visit, I ordered the chicken parmesan. The guarguantium portion of chicken breast covered with parmesan bread crumbs, melted hot Mozzarella cheese, and tomato sauce over pasta put me on cloud 9. The amount of quality food that they served me was really a two-parter. If I wasn't on a stay cation, half of it would of gone to my refrigerator and warmed up the next day. The entry to this dining experience was around $20. Like last time I ordered a Coke that added to the price. This meal left me very satisfied. Proceeding both meals that I had in this Grand Lux Cafe was a basket of complimentary warm house bread. Also on both visits, we had a friendly and attentive server. When I review restaurants on the touristy Las Vegas Strip, the question is, "would I patronize the place if it was off the Strip?" This leads into the question, "If Grand Lux Cafe was off the Strip would I patronize it?" Absolutely! The food and the amount they give you at a reasonable price inside a restaurant environment that blends the grandeur of European cafes with the American restaurant makes it competitive to many of the local restaurants in Las Vegas. Until and if they build an off-Strip Grand Lux Cafe, I anticipate patronizing this or its sister location at the Venetian in the future.
