| - I guess I'm now on an odyssey to review McDonalds' locations in Mississauga. Still not buying burgers from them.
This branch is a bit of an oddity. Unlike other locations in the south end of Mississauga, this one does stay open later (possibly 24 hours?)... but it has the clientele to match. My friends and I came here for a late-night McFlurry run, and we were immediately accosted by a junkie/homeless man on the way in. It's no surprise that the store attracts these kids of people, as it's close to Mississauga's virtual ghetto (Paisley Road to the South and the 5/10 intersection to the north).
This McD's is small, although it's a little better than its previous incarnation just a couple doors down. The place moved when Shoppers Drug Mart expanded, in tandem with several other businesses. You've got a few tables and a bench near the front, but it's clear from the arrangement that this is a place where the management wants you to get your food and go quickly.
Not that it stopped the cashier on deck that night from flirting with a land whale of a woman while he was trying to fix the self-serve ice cream machine. Even though this is a fairly-modern location, half the machinery wasn't working correctly when we visited. And McDs wants to automate all of their restaurants completely within the next 5-10 years? Not likely, if this is anything to go by. We saw people waiting for several minutes, awkwardly crammed around the counter, drunken party girls next to a short man wearing a suit-and-tie. Like I said, it has the clientele to match.
The quality is exactly what I expect from the chain - the ice cream was decent, the tables were messy and the experience left me feeling like I'd lost a small part of my soul. Yeah, that's the McDonalds' way.
Worth a visit if you need something fast and cheap - a safe skip otherwise.
