| - This is a reaally cool store to check out even if you aren't a fan of IKEA and here is why:
I never realized the full extent of products made by IKEA until I walked through this store. First of all, it is soooooo BIG that you could easily get lost, because there is just sooooo much stuff from bathroom toiletries to electronic appliances. Things that you never expect to find or see ... You will see here!!
Plus, this store also has its own eatery, which is always pretty cool ... I didn't try out any food, but I've heard mixed reviews.
However, despite all this plethora of all sorts of various stuff ... I am not a real fan of IKEA products in general - the quality of most IKEA manufactured products is usually fairly low, meaning, if you are a college student on a budget or struggling financially IKEA is the place to buy things that you will need without breaking the bank. Most of the IKEA products I have come across were handed off/down to me when people got better jobs or moved, etc. The construction of their products are decent, but definitely not super sturdy long lasting ...
I see IKEA stuff as mostly short term and directly related to one's current economical condition. As I said, most of the people that gave me their IKEA items when I was in grad school did so because it would have cost them more to spend money on moving the cheaply made furniture, and most of them didn't want to hold onto these disposable items long term. Plus, it's so cheap that most people don't want to spend $$ buying used IKEA furniture, etc. unless it's so cheap that you are essentially giving it away. Most of the IKEA furniture given to me fell apart or became defective after minimal use. A few items I still have in my possession such as a dresser and a cool chair.
The PRO's: IKEA products generally look good and they are very affordable. If you get hungry, while your shopping they serve food ;)
The CON's: Since the products are so inexpensive they are not of the greatest quality, so don't expect them last forever, and don't have super high expectations if things become defective or stop working properly and/or break. You will have to put together most bigger items yourself (because it's in a million pieces), which may be a pain in the butt, or you can pay IKEA to assemble it for you for a fee.
Overall, IKEA is what it is .... It's simply OKAY, which is why I have rated it three stars. I don't necessarily like or dislike it... I'm neutral. In terms of recommendations: If you are financially strapped it's the "go-to" place for many. If you like the finer things in life, then this probably isn't the place for you because you aren't going to find exceptional quality at such low price points. You have to be realistic and reasonable with your expectations if you come here and make a purchase.
