  • Eggplant Parmesan Sandwich, huh? Thanks yelpheads, Kimberly S, Tate D, and Cami T ! Can almost taste it. (Oh, yeah.) It's the first item on my Gallucci shopping list for my next visit. Gave each of you "Usefuls" for the tip. I could go on and on. And on. However, this review is specific. Yes, I agree with most reviews here that there are thousands of wonderful edibles at Gallucci's. Don't have time to list everything I've purchased and enjoyed, so I'm listing just a few of my Must-Have items only. They come with my high recommendations. * MARCONI Chicago-style HOT Giardiniera 32 fl.oz We buy 2-4 at a time. Call beforehand to make sure in stock. It's a regularly- stocked item, but sometimes sells out. It might come in a smaller size, so you can start with that one. Great mixed into chili-style dishes or other, with sandwiches, or even chopped up fine and cooked in savory dishes. * MAMA GALLUCCI'S Pasta Sauce 32 oz. Very nicely-flavored and the thinner style. It's perfect. It's been years since I've made any from scratch---it just takes too long. Before discovering this one, tried all the well known---and upscale brands, too---then added any extras to it that I wanted. Nothing compares. What makes this one best is it's pure simplicity---mild and flavorful. The last thing I want in a convenient jarred sauce are all those sometimes overbearing seasonings and additives. This is wonderful as is, or as a base. You can very easily add something you like---heat, cheese, cream, mushrooms, wine, etc. This isn't Ragu or Bertolli---it's Mama Gallucci---a local grandma who happens to have a fabulous, inoffensive, for-all-tastes, pasta sauce. We buy 4 at a time. Just try a single jar for starters. It's great. Thanks, Mama G. (Her son joked that she makes it right there and bottles it all herself.) **** Important **** Jar looks very similar to her PIZZA SAUCE. Don't make the mistake we did one time, and discover you'd brought the wrong thing home. Another one hour plus round trip for a trade-off. * INTERNATIONAL COLLECTION TAPENADE Kalamata Olive Savory Appetizer Spread 5.8 oz. Nothing out there like it, but don't get TOO excited. It's a product of the United Kingdom, and heard it had recently suspended its production of this heavenly spread. Don't know why. Maybe olive oil cost is increasing, making this item too expensive. Just remember it, then ask for it EVERY time you visit. This is a real Foodie Find. ~ Don't waste your money on any others if this one is available. (Unless Gallucci's has started making their own---then definitely try theirs, too.) Wasn't cheap---maybe $4-5---but worth even more. Trust me when I say that it's hard to share---and I'm the sharing type. Perfect on lightly olive-oil sprinkled, crusty fresh bread slices. Forget about it as an appetizer---I've made this an entire meal. If you buy it, open the jar BEFORE you pull out of the parking lot. TASTE IT. Use your finger, ballpoint pen, mascara tube, anything---even your car key. You'll go back in for more---I know it. .
