| - Had a horrible experience with Dr. Scarso. After a root canal procedure left me with a broken tooth, not only did Dr. Scarso refuse to stand behind his work, but he embarked upon a lawsuit to collect a very small portion of the fee even after the tooth had shattered. I ended up having to have the tooth extracted and paying a court settlement to his collection attorney. To put it in perspective, I paid over $2,000 for a bad root canal procedure, an endontist consult following the mishap. After all of this, Dr. Scarso filed a lawsuit against me to collect the final $400 that he claimed was due.
During the extensive legal proceeding I discovered I missed my window to file a malpractice suit against him, or I surely would have. I have been left with extensive gaps in my bite due to this procedure, which another dentist told me should never have been performed in the first place as the tooth was too far gone for a root canal and it should have been scheduled for implant surgery from the beginning. Additionally, I learned that this procedure should have been done by a specialist, and not in his office. I urge anyone undergoing such a procedure to have it done at an Endodontic specialist, and stay away from a general dentist's office for this procedure, something which I learned too late, on my own, and was not even remotely suggested by Dr. Scarso.
During this time I also discovered that Dr. Scarso has a history with the state dental board for prescription drug impropriety, and has been suspended because of this in the past.
I'm sure this review will earn me a warning from his attorney's, as it has been my experience that this is how he settles his disputes in the past. That said, I stand behind all of the above as true and documented.
