  • Came here on a Sunday night with my mom and sister for my Mom's birthday dinner. She loves seafood and Cajun dishes so I thought this place would be perfect since our usual belated shenanigans kept us from seafood connection. Got here around 8pm and it was completely empty. Our waiter was extremely chill but very friendly nonetheless. Took a minute to peruse the menus and everyone decided. I got the veggie burger with fries, my mom got the shrimp and grits and my sister, the chicken and waffle sandwich with fries. We ordered drinks afterwards and I got a brew from NoDa and my mom got the pineapple mango mojito. She enjoyed hers. The brew was a bit too hoppy for my taste but I managed to gulp down half. Not convinced it was a lager but hey, whatever. After about 30 minutes, our food arrived. My mom loved her entree sans her cornbread which she said was hard and dry. My whole plate was cold (veggie burger and fries) My sister had cold fries but devoured the chicken and waffles sandwich. The waiter brought new fries and on my Mom's suggestion I ended up trading in the veggie burger for a couple of sides: fries, grits and salad. The salad was magnificent and I wished I had just gotten a huge salad instead. The grits were well done too (which is saying a lot being that I'm a total grits snob). I also ordered the crawfish and spinach dip after the rest which was good but really needed some salt or seasoning. With copious amounts of salt it became delicious. All in all I would give them another shot earlier in the day but am a firm believer that if you're open, you should be able to deliver a five star experience (hence the 3 stars).
