I have stayed here twice in the last few months due to business meetings. I have also stayed here with the family before a very early morning flight. This hotel is a Montreal airport classic. For many years it was the Hilton Montreal Airport. Then for a brief period I believe it was some less memorable other US chain and now it's a Sheraton. For an old place that has gone through many renovations I'd say this hotel is a solid 3.75/5. Because of a very attentive and polite staff I round this up to a 4.
My first stay in January 2015 had some hiccups to say the least with keys getting demagnetized and issues with our meeting room temperature and confusion over our meals however the hotel and banquet staff and front desk staff went over and above to amend the situation. This I am appreciative and accepting of mistakes.
Second stay in March 2015 had less issues and went pretty much seamlessly. Let me say the meeting rooms are of different size and they provided amazing snacks and high quality coffee and when the room was too hot they lowered the temperature.
Hotel rooms on both stays were above average, beds are super comfortable and noise level was OK. There is lots of jet plane noise during most part of the day but because of the airports noise pollution time limit (around midnight) it's okay to sleep from 11 pm to 6 AM ish. Rooms are not totally soundproof but I didn't mind. You may find it loud.
Parking is paid and non covered lot. $12.50 a day and they give discounted parking if you stay there for an event (if negotiated).
They have a gym, spa and a large pool area + hot tub. Pool closes at 9PM however which is early. Probably so they don't have to deal with the rowdy people.
Convenience to the airport and off the main autoroutes images this place very easy to get in and out of.
Food on my stays was above average in the restaurant. Let's start with breakfast:
An excellent selection of everything you need : Bacon eggs, sausage, toast, potatoes, tomatoes, beans. All your hot favourites. Then there was a decent selection of pastries, fruit, yoghurt and healthier options.
Lunch: The hot lunches were similar on both the days. Pork and fish with vegetables and pasta. Also there was a good selection of salads and the desserts were quite good also. On the other day it was chicken and beef with vegetables different salads and the same awesome selection of decadent desserts.
Snacks during our meetings were pastries in the morning and different cakes and cookies in the afternoon. Also there was a good selection of juices, perrier and soft drinks.
As mentioned we had some issues but it was the resolution of the front desk staff and the apologetic nature and honesty that I appreciated. You may find fault and things that may go wrong from a stay here but when people try to correct and make it better I can say I appreciate it.
Let me conclude this is a busy busy hotel. Lots of airline staff coming and going. Also it was Spring break so there as a large group of rowdy young teenagers that I heard on some of our other co-workers were causing some issues on one of the floors. If there is inclement weather I'd believe this hotel books up totally. With it's proximity to the terminal airlines probably hand out vouchers for here or cancelled flight people probably try to find refuge or a bed to sleep in.
The bar seemed to be quite busy in the evenings with travellers having a couple of drinks.
Would I come back here for meetings? I'd say yes as I believe it to be an above average experience for our group.
