  • My biggest reason for being a repeat customer here is because the food is plentiful for the price. I have a weekly square dance at 59th Ave and Dunlap on Wednesdays at 6:30, when I live at 87th St. and Camelback. It will take me over 1.5 hours to drive to arrive at 6:30 and 70% of the time I am still late. So I leave my house at 4:15 and eat on the westside, then I have more control over getting to my square dance ON TIME to get a dance partner lined up upon arrival. I came to know about this restaurant because they were listed in dine for airline points. They also give 7% cash back in another promotion. When I talk to the people at other tables, they are all regulars. On my first visit I asked the couple at the next booth what they were eating. Man told me he orders the same veal dish each time they come, which is once a month, because he said it was so good. I think it was the veal masala. I have tried both veal dishes, masala and parmegian. I did not like the parmegian as much as the masala which was full of mushrooms. The wife ordered a greek dish. He said they have been coming to this restaurant for 30 years. I ordered the greek combo for my first visit. Food was good and plentiful. I came here last week, and had my heart set on veal masala but they ran out. I was so disappointed, so I ordered moussaka. It was OK, somewhat bland, but only $8 and the lemon chicken greek soup was good. I called to make sure they had veal before eating here again yesterday. The veal masala was topped solid with mushrooms, and I like their spaghetti and meat sauce because they put a lot of sauce on the spaghetti. Veal dishes are only $12, include soup or salad, bread, spaghetti or ziti with meat sauce. They let me cross-substitute sides or breads from either Greek or Italian menus. Like, instead of garlic bread that comes with Italian dishes, I always ask for the pita bread, which is not flat like most. It is shaped like a hamburger bun, about 1" thick. I ask for extra crispy, so it crunches when I bite into it. I cut open and put butter inside. Smells fragrantly yeasty, too. When I was here yesterday, a couple came in the door and stood there for a long time, at least 5 min, maybe 7 min. No one was at the cash register to attend to them, like when I came in, and there was no bell. So they left. I later told the lady (owner) and she couldn't care less. Place is not fancy at all. They used to have a bad rip in the booth bench, but now it is repaired. I wish the lighting were brighter, it makes for a less cheerful and dingy atmosphere. But maybe hides the lack of decor. The reason why I don't give this place 5 stars, is because the food is BLAND, like other reviews mentioned. But I just add more salt and open the lid of the grated cheese shaker and add lots of cheese to vamp up the flavor. The "bland" is reparable on the spot, for the amount of food they give you for the price, plus the 7% cash back and get a few airline points keeps me coming back as repeat customer.
