In my opinion, the CLT airport is one of the best around. The terminal is clean, each concourse is accessible with the exception of E which can be a hike from the end of B. There are plenty of restaurants to eat at, plenty of shops. And I love the rocking chairs and the piano player in the main terminal.
And as much as people hate US Airways, I actually enjoy the fact that they have their largest hub in CLT and you can fly non-stop to almost anywhere.
Parking is a breeze. I usually use long-term parking which is only $4 a day and it's really not far from the airport. The shuttles are normally timed pretty well where you are not waiting long.
My only complaint is the lack of restaurants in the ticketing and baggage areas. My family used to use CLT as a layover point because I could meet them there and spend time there. But since 9/11 I am no longer allowed beyond the security checkpoint. Maybe that will change when the terminal is expanded again which I hear is coming.
