| - I only recently went to Strangelove on Thursday (Jan 21/10). Showed up at 1, but there was still plenty of party left in the place. I appreciate that effort is going into up and coming DJ's, and there seemed to be some heart in the offerings, but there is a reason DJ's are up and coming. Basic (or rather advanced?) mixing / re-mixing skills are still in development. The crowd is younger, with a mix of still poorly dressed college dudes that might look more comfortable at Mick E Finns to some pretty hip people. All in all, not a bad looking crowd (but what will they look like in 10 years...well anyway, they are still young right now.)
Wednesday is also a fun night, for Soulvation. Funky, old R&B. If you've never been to one of these nights, then you should go to check if it is your scene. There is a distinct lack of variety however, after a few Wednesdays you stop joking that it's just a playlist. It's just not funny any more when you can list the next 3 songs coming on. But what can they do I guess, there just aren't THAT many songs to be played. Crowd is slightly older (21-25, rather than 19-23 on Thur), but lots of cool friendly people.
Bartenders are really nice. Though still no Manhatten's. Everyone ask for one! It wasn't until prohibition that people started mixing drinks you know! Fight the power, fight prohibition! Drink your drinks straight!
