| - Visited here in December 2016 per choice of family member. We got a plate of summer rolls (not fried) for the table of five people. We were hungry and were wolfing them down. Initially, I couldn't place why they didn't taste right...then I realized it --no mint. I said something to everyone at the table as we were finishing. We agreed--mint was missing and that is why they tasted bland. --We told the manager, and he looked at us like we were nuts as the summer rolls were gone. He also said he checked with the kitchen and they said they had put mint in there. (Um...no....none of us tasted it. He said maybe it was so small an amount we missed it. I think the kitchen was blowing smoke at him. I also think if it was so small an amount that all five of us missed it, there wasn't enough in there.) He said next time, to tell him right away if something was missing. My sister told him it wasn't her/our job to oversee his kitchen. (Who wants to deal with sending food back? I just want it right --the first time.)
My pho with filet mignon was meh. Tough steak. Minimal bean sprouts, basil, etc., served with it.
Three folks that ordered the Vietnamese sandwich really liked it.
My sister was underwhelmed by the clay pot dish (I liked my pho better than that).
Vietnamese food is about herbs, spices, and fresh, delightful tastes... Saigon Kitchen just doesn't seem to get the details right for me.
Overall, per prior experience with frozen vegetables (cubed carrots and peas), and meh food, I just can't recommend this place. Makes me sad as it is near my house. I feel like they ought to get the food preparation right. How hard is it?
