I really appreciate having the option of sampling some local restaurants in an airport, rather than just the standard chain places. Barrio Cafe is a restaurant in Phoenix, and this is their representation inside the airport.
I chose this spot because the menu items were interesting, slightly more exotic than the standard cheese quesadilla or fish tacos. My guac was fine. I was not a fan of the really thick chips, but I did think the dried cranberries were a nice twist. My pork tacos were excellent. The side salad was small and pretty much just lettuce, but fresh.
The bar style seating facing out towards the gates was great for people watching, and there are outlets at about every other seat.
The service was fast and friendly. I like that they have those call buttons so you don't have to try to flag down your server to get your bill, but the device design could use some work.
