| - I recently purchased a 2014 Dodge Ram Promaster Commercial Van from Tempe Dodge. As I live in the North Valley, I needed a dealer nearby to service this vehicle. I scheduled an appointment with no problems in that regard. Upon arriving at the service dept, a service writer simply looked out the service bay or service desk area and stated, "oh no, we can't service that", and went on to state that it was a Sprinter chassis or some such nonsense. I then looked at the service writer next to him and said "come on, really." The second service writer proceeded to walk towards the van as I pointed out that this was a DODGE van which has two large Dodge Ram logos on it. One on the hood and another on the back doors. The second service writer then said, "oh yeah, we should be able to take care of this." I would hope so, as it is a DODGE product !! Anyhow, I was then told that Larry H. Miller did not have any technicians that were competent or certified to work on this particular vehicle, but they were able to do simple tasks such as an oil change (which is what I came in for). Anyhow, 45 minutes later the vehicle was put on a lift, and after another 45 mins or so the vehicle. was ready. I understand that vehicle dealers make a large portion of their money on service. I also understand being in business myself that small repairs or services often times lead to larger repairs. Providing a customer good competent service also builds a customers confidence, so that when larger repairs come up the customer is inclined to do business with you. I take all of my other vehicles to Valvoline oil change operation off of Cave Creek Road and the 101. I DID NOT take my Dodge Van there as it is still under warranty, and I want to make sure I do everything by the book so to speak, especially with a vehicle as new to the market at the Dodge Promaster. One would assume that all dealers service departments would be in the loop or trained to work on all of Dodge's products (including new products). When I am told that this dealers technicians are not competent to work on my vehicle, it certainly does not inspire any confidence. Also, an oil change should be in and out, especially when an appointment is made in advance. Why would anyone want to wait 1.5 hours, when they can get competent service from many quick lube / oil change shops around town in 30 minutes or less. Just saying, not the exemplary service I would expect from a dealer. Also, as a side note, I am looking to buy another commerical van in the near future. Experiences like this don't help sales.
