Il Pizz....to my entourage and I is a great corner stone of the MTL dining scene. Every dish I have ever had here has been nothing but excellent.
I can really appreciate the effort that this place puts into its products. If they have their homemade burrata, which has such a nice mellow flavor and texture of silk, I recommend giving it a try. If you have never had it before, it is very runny and creamy so don't be alarmed that is how it is supposed to be. They serve it with a simple side of Heirloom tomato slices with a bit of salt and pepper which makes this a refreshing summer appetizer.
I can't write enough to describe everything I have tried on their menu but most recently I had one of their many styles of pizza. The Funghi pizza had a most flavorful sauce and with tasty mushroom, mozz cheese, basil. It is cooked in a wood fired oven and fresh ingredients make these rather simple pies, gourmet.
The drink menu is vast with many tasty wines and beers, domestic and imported. I agree with some other reviews that the drink prices are a little on the steep side but I think it makes up for the more than reasonable food prices. I think that the most inexpensive wine on the list is $9 a glass.
The service is usually excellent although I have had extremely long wait times which I think is caused by the fact that this is a great place that draws plenty of people in and many folks enjoy hanging out after dinner since the ambiance is pretty nice. I have also had them tell me the wait was almost 2 hours and was seated in 20 minutes???? Don't understand that one. I recommend in the summer months seeing if you can grab a seat on their back patio and I also enjoy dining in their back dinning room (wine bar) as it is usually a little quieter and intimate feeling than the front dining area. Take some time and enjoy the experience.
