I love family run restaurants. When you walk into a good one, you can feel the difference. I felt it when I walked into Escape Goat. The bar is ran by the husband and wife duo of Jeremy and Chivon, with appearances at the bar or table by family and friends. But this place would not survive in the competitive restaurant heavy street of Queen Street West without bringing something special. And they do! They have a great selection of Toronto and nearby craft beers. I enjoyed a Blood Brothers Guava sour, followed by the new Halo Doom IPA. I was told they'll have a rotating selection from the finest breweries Canada has to offer. With this place, the beer selection is the star, but that doesn't mean the food isn't a close second. They have a short but excellent menu with seemingly typical bar food but made extraordinary by an excellent chef. If I lived nearby, this would be my nightly spot. Luckily I work close by so I'll have the pleasure of being a frequent customer.
