| - I stayed here for about 3 months a while back for business.
:: Rooms ::
The rooms are pretty spacious. The rooms I've stayed in had a kitchen with appliances, a sitting area with a L shaped couch that could be pulled out into a bed, and a huge Queen sized bed. The bathroom is decent sized with a shower-tub combo. The heating is a bit wonky and may or may not work as well as you'd like in the winter. The last week I was there, I was in a fireplace suite and that was pretty cool- the fireplace is gas powered.
:: Noise ::
The noise levels aren't too bad. Most people who stay here are on business so it is pretty quiet. If you have a room that faces the street (Prospect Ave), you may hear loud music and patrons from nearby bars- especially from the one across the street that doubled as a venue for salsa dancing.
:: Food ::
If you're staying for a while, they do have the complimentary grocery shopping. They'll just add the grocery bill to your room. In the mornings, they serve breakfast buffet style on the 2nd floor. Items include coffee, tea, juice, water, cereal, toast, muffins, yogurt, fruit, hot oatmeal, eggs, bacon, sausage, and the like. In the evening, they'll serve different dishes everyday during their "social hour." They also serve alcohol including red and white wine and beer on tap (usually a domestic like Miller and a Great Lakes brew). They also have their 24hr marketplace in the lobby where you can pick up stuff.
:: Laundry ::
They have a laundry room on site. However, it was malfunctioning the few times I used it so I don't recommend it.
:: Gym ::
They do have a mini gym in the hotel. Not sure if it is still the case, but hotel guests were allowed to use the gym in the arcade/mall next door by showing their key cards.
:: Parking ::
This is one of the scariest lots I've ever encountered. If you're getting a rental, I highly recommend a compact/sub-compact/economy car as the spaces are REALLY TIGHT. Heck, the structural pillars make it even worse. In the beginning of my stay, it was about $8/day. Later on, the price jumped to $16/day.
It may not be the glitziest hotel downtown, but it is affordable, spacious, near bars and restaurants, near the sporting/concert venues, and near the freeway on-ramps.
