I have been to this place several times as part of School of Rock. I usually have a wonderful time with my family. Every time I visit the Santuary I bring my 4lb Yorkie. On this last visit (Sunday, April 8th) I was was stopped by a staff member and asked not to bring my dog next time I visited. She said that even though her ducks are bigger than my dog that the prey are still afraid of him. She was very kind and respectful and I told her I would not bring him next time and would leave within the half hour as soon as our son is done performing.
My family and I went to sit on the grass mound to watch the kids perform and keep my dog away from the animals. While we were watching the kids perform another staff member approached me and introduced herself as the president. She told me that I couldn't have my dog there. I told her that a staff member had already approached me and asked me not to bring him next time. She responded, "Not next time, now. I would not suggest you leave him in the car but you have some choices to make." I told her my son would perform within the half hour and then we would leave. She again responded, "No, you need to remove him now. I have received complaints. Make your choices. "
Funny thing is many people approached us and asked if they and their kids could pet him.
I was very disappointed by her communication and her lack of understanding. I would have left as soon as my son was done performing. I understand rules change, but there are better ways to communicate with people without being rude. My husband ended up sitting in the car with our dog until my son was done performing and then we left.
