  • I've visited three animal shelters in the Pittsburgh area and they all do fantastic work but Animal Friends completely impressed me with the quality of their efforts to match new pets and potential owners. We are thinking of getting a second dog and we took our 10 year old shepard mix to meet his possible new brother or sister. Both Jeremey and Natalie, adoption counselors, worked with us at length beyond the normal closing time (the evening before Thanksgiving , no less!) to introduce Buddy to a new dog-mate. I was so taken with their knowledge of how to go about doing this in a way that kept the dogs safe and comfortable and helped us get an idea of how they might be together over the long term. with respect to any conflict issues that could arise. In short, I can see they are deeply dedicated finding good permanent homes for their pets. All the shelters do wonderful work and I especially recommend this one if you are hoping to introduce a new animal into a home with other pets. Kudos to Jeremy and Natalie and all the staff at Animal Friends!
