| - Good mid range hotel at an affordable price and convenient location.
Stayed here for a few days in Sep '13.
The rate was a tad over $90 after tax and other miscellaneous fees.
Although I wouldn't go far to say it's a steal, I found it to be a reasonable value considering the nicer location and comfort of the room. Its not perfect, but its certainly good enough an option to have me reconsider a return visit in the near future.
Things I liked about the hotel;
- Helpful and friendly staff. Everyone was accommodating and extraordinarily cheerful.
- Good location. Its a fairly central location very close to the 54 fwy, and not too far from the 10 fwy. It took me around 15-20 mins to get to Scottsdale. There are many good restaurants within 10-15 mins drive.
- Good noise isolation. I stayed on the second floor and found it to isolate noise from the outside and rooms next to me well. I didn't hear any noises from my neighbors next to my room or on the first floor. There is some outside noise, but it's muffled well, especially when the AC is on.
- Clean rooms. Never once did I get the impression the bed-sheets, carpet, towels, or bathroom was unclean. Maid service was immaculate after cleaning.
- Comfortable beds. As another reviewer mentioned, the mattresses are softer. I actually prefer firmer mattresses, but I slept well regardless.
- Good showers. Despite being older, I found the shower pressure to be adequately strong, if not better than most hotels including some that are higher end. Water temperatures were hot enough, something that sadly isnt always the case.
- Plentiful parking
- Free Wifi included with cost of room
- Good other amenities. I liked how there was a complementary fridge and microwave. The are older units, but nonetheless work just fine. A/C works great with getting the room cold. It is a little noisier however.
Things I didn't care so much for.
- Musky smell. I also noticed another reviewer mentioned this and I can confirm its the case. Fortunately either my sense of smell got used to it quick, or the A/C cleared it up. Not a big deal for me.
- Rooms could benefit from a make-over. The room I stayed in did seem a bit older and decrepit looking. As a single guy, it's a non issue. Just be wary of staying here is your preferences dictate otherwise.
- Toilet paper is pretty low grade. I know I'm nitpicking here, but bring your own if it's important to you. Its not exactly sandpaper, but it is thin and coarse.
Overall this branch of Best Western delivers a good option for lodging. Recommended.
