  • My experiences with McGhie's started back in Sept 2013. I can't believe I didn't review them at the time, so I am adding it to this now. Sept 9, 2013. I joined my husband on his Monday night run with his group. I am super slow and not doing as many miles, so I finished before them. The group meets outside of Nutirtion Rush (across the parking lot from McGhie's). I have been wanting a bike for YEARS. So, while waiting for my husband to finish his run, I popped inside to check things out. It was a fairly quiet evening, not a lot of people in the store. I was immediately greeted by Travis, who was very friendly and easy to talk with. We talked about my needs/wants and interests and he talked to me about a couple of the bikes he would recommend. I told him about my challenge to find the right frame fit as I have very short legs and most of the places I have been to didn't have small enough frames. He immediately found a good size! Fantastic! We then started talking about fit, components, etc. I told him I knew some, but very little about bikes and cycling in general. He was VERY helpful without ever coming off as "talking down" or making any judgements about my experience or knowledge. I wasn't ready to buy a bike that night, but Travis' interaction made the decision that I would be coming back to this location for my bike when I was ready. So, it's been since September, but over the weekend the husband and I went back to McGhie's with the intent of buying bikes. On Saturday we arrived around 4:30 or so. We were greeted by Rox, very friendly and attentive. I explained what I was looking for, what my experience level was and she helped me from point A to Z. From picking a bike, checking the fit while we rode arout the building, making necessary adjustments, helping me pick out some shorts (the padding may feel a bit funny, but your bum will thank you later!), accessorize the bike (bottle cages are a must!), set me up with my emergency pack (extra tube, air, tools, etc) and honestly made sure I left ready to ride. Manager Jim was also on hand to help with the process and was also very friendly and added to the positive experience. Unfortunately, my fit took some time and we were keeping them late (they close at 6, we were there until at least 6:30). We never felt rushed and I apologized for keeping them late, but they all remained unphased. Since it was so late, we couldn't get the boy his bike too, so we went back on Sunday. Rox was off, but Travis was there. Again, great customer service, lots of smiles, and we just felt at east. They took care of us, again, from A to Z. Travis got the boy all set and ready to go and made all the adjustments. The boy forgot his regular shoes and was in sandals, so he'll need to go back with the bike and shoes to get the final adjustments on his fit - which, to me, says they would rather do it right once than send you off with something that might be off. We were also made aware of all the classes and such that they offer at their location (which can be found on the website - but the site isn't really all that fantastic) and also made sure we know that they can make adjustments to the fit for us as long as we own the bikes, which is pretty cool! Right now there's a Trek sale going on, for a few more days I think. If you're looking for a bike, or even just looking for some gear, you should stop in. This will definitely be my go-to location!
