| - This place is beyond ridiculous!! This hospital has become an inside joke and NO ONE IS LAUGHING but no one cares either! This is the absolute worst care I have ever received and I can't understand why all the bad or less than 3 star reviews are basically "filtered". As of writing this there are 63 reviews that are filtered addressing the same issues that I have faced so who wouldn't want to know about this? I know I'm not the only patient who struggles with their mistakes and incompetence.
PARKING: AN ABSOLUTE JOKE!!! The lines of traffic are LONG, you never know if the bar is going to rise up and let you in and the parking attendants (if there is one around, it's been 50/50). I miss when they had actual parking attendants in a booth but to "save money" they got rid of them and now you deal with a ticket system and HOPE, WISH, and PRAY it all works out. It didn't work out for me. An attendant was standing by the gate but as soon as the bar went up, I moved forward and the BAR CAME RIGHT BACK DOWN ON THE HOOD OF MY CAR!!!!! WHAT THE *#@!!! All the parking attendant could say is, "Why isn't this working??" "YOU TELL ME HONEY!" Eventually, the bar came back up and I FLOORED it past the gate bar so it wouldnt damage my car. After inspection though, (THANKFULLY the bar had padding underneath) it didn't even scratch my car. This is still NO excuse! One of the nurses even told me it's getting worse for parking! They actually make their employees PAY FOR PARKING EVERY MONTH! As much as $50 a month! Now they are raising it even more from what they said! Plus, they do NOT get any discounts on food, (FULL PRICE FOR EVERYONE). I can understand why some employees are upset and work at other hospitals.
I was sitting in the digestive diseases area at main campus and apparently I'm just supposed to "sit and wait" for an hour of NOTHING before my procedure. What a joke! I wasn't told this beforehand, it just appeared they changed my schedule time (again) without telling me. I guess I'm SUPPOSED to sit here even before being prepped for a procedure and wait an hour before any procedure without explanation. Meanwhile this tiny 15 chair waiting room is about to become "Standing Room Only" it has become so full in the past hour of waiting. Not only that, there is a sign saying "If you're leaving the waiting area , please stop by the front desk to pick up a pager." This means you WILL be waiting so go ahead and leave, we'll page you causing an inconvenience to other patients and making them wait longer. If this isn't enough, the secretaries have NO manners or even a care in the world beyond themselves because I kept confronting them on my appointment and they just repeated what I already knew and when I asked for the pager it's ONLY for families! This is just some of MANY issues the Cleveland Clinic suffers from but there is obviously the feeling that there is some "covering up" of what REALLY goes on at the Main Campus because all of these problems and issues should be addressed within the Clinic. THIS IS NOT WORLD CLASS CARE! It's World Class Carelessness!
The ONLY redeeming quality here are the doctors but they can't really do anything about this inconvenience because most of the doctors are not even aware of several issues. My doctor was upset for me that I waited right around 90 minutes and NONE of her staff, nurses or aides called me back before being prepped for my procedure. This is POOR communication, POOR service and on top of that if you know I'm upset DON'T insert an IV in one arm and check my blood pressure in the other arm AT THE SAME TIME!!! Nursing 101: PAIN MAKES BLOOD PRESSURE INCREASE ESPECIALLY IF THE PATIENT IS ALREADY UPSET!!
I have never been mistreated and ignored like this at any hospital before and it's upsetting. I was NPO (nothing by mouth so no food or drink) since the night before so I had an empty stomach, checked in at the time they told me (an hour before the procedure) thinking and believing that I would be prepped for my procedure. Nope, because of everyone there I didn't have my procedure for almost an hour AFTER I was put in a bed so we are WAY behind schedule now. I cannot believe that the Cleveland Clinic is regarded as high as it is but performs day to day like this. I have never been scared before a procedure but being treated like this beforehand I can honestly say that I was worried how this whole procedure was going to turn out. Overall, I lived. Yay. The doctor was very understanding but the main campus suffers greatly from LACK of communication and that is leading to and causing both patients and staff to leave main campus and go elsewhere.
If you do find a good doctor at main campus you have to ask yourself is parking and a high volume of people and lack of communication worth it?? If you can manage that then I commend you and join you because with my health situation on top of finding a wonderful doctor that is difficult enough.
