  • I read some of the negative reviews on Dr. Zedek and these people are truly crazy. The meds that their "new" dr. is giving them obviously don't work. I want to address some of these now. One writes that Dr. Zedek left the office to open one elsewhere and he was forced to take meds prescribed by a nurse. This is blatantly false. He did open other locations and he does split his time among them. He is at each location at least once per week. A nurse, nor anyone else can "Force" you to take something you don't want. Just like cancer, if you don't like the diagnosis, you are free to get a second opinion elsewhere. Another writes that he doesn't like you to get close to his desk...crazy people, on and off their meds, come in every day. In case a patient lunges at him, he has his desk far away so he has time to react. This ain't Hollywood where the psychotic housewife comes in to spill her guts. Dr. Zedek treats the MENTALLY ILL!! This brings me to my review. I was not asked to leave a review, and if you look at my profile, I am a frequent reviewer. MY reviews are unbiased and true: My son has been going to Dr. Zedek for 14 years now. He was placed on haloperidol by the hospital when he had his first episode. The state wanted to commit him. We were given Dr. Zedeks card by the hospital staff and was told that Dr. "Z" treated extreme cases. We called and told his staff that it was an emergency and they made a same day appointment. After diagnosis, my son was put on Zyprexia. After about 6 months and some adjustments to the dose, we found that the Zyprexia worked but was making him lethargic and he was gaining weight. He was switched over to Abilify and has been on it ever since with no other issues. In the 14 years that we have been going to Dr."Z", we have watched him accept people right off the street, "screaming zombies"as I call them, without insurance and give them free help and subsidized (free to the patient) meds. I challenge you to give me the name of one other Dr. in Las Vegas that would do that. IF I WERE FORCED TO SAY SOMETHING NEGATIVE, I have had to wait 2 or 3 times for up to an hour due to the number of "screaming zombies", but I waited gladly knowing that someone else's son was going to get a new lease on life! At one point, he was also treating my daughter for a bout of depression. She got through it with her meds and Dr. "Z" recognized it and suggested weening off of them. She now lives a normal life, no problems with depression and, at Dr. "Z"'s suggestion all treatment stopped. Most other Dr.'s would have told us that depression has to be treated for life...PAY ME! Not Dr. "Z".! One more thing. Practicing medicine, no matter if it is a physical or mental ailment, is never an exact science. Someone can come in and get treatment with symptoms of schizophrenia only to re-diagnose later as extremely bi-polar. They have some of the same onset properties. NO ONE has a record of perfect diagnoses, but that's what second opinions are for. If you don't like the Dr.'s opinion, feel free to get a second. But, to give him a bad review...it's just unfair!
