| - I'm a native San Diegan and I love our city, but we have nothing that compares to West Side Market. This is not to say that we don't have farmers markets, we do, but they really pale in comparison to the West Side Market. I've been coming here for as long as I can remember on trips to visit family. I bring my son now and he loves it too.
As others have mentioned, parking can be an issue. I don't typically visit the market on the weekend though and I do tend to come early in the day.
They have a great variety of produce here. Often you can find items you won't find in big box stores, it's great if you're searching for a particular item for a recipe. I like to do some cooking for my family when I visit and this is where I shop. I can pick up pretty much everything I need right here: produce, meats, cheeses, bread, herbs, desserts, ect.
It's a good idea to bring cash though as not every vendor accepts cards. And there's no need to eat before you hit the market, you can grab a bite to eat here and people watch :-)
