  • Blech. Just blech. I'm sorry, but I don't get all of the rave reviews. This place serves almost nothing green. What they do serve is huge piles of wheat in various forms topped with a little tomato in various forms and lots of white rubbery mozzarella. Whether it's served in a bowl or in a pan, it's wheat and tomato. The menu depressed me when my family sat down. There's no way to integrate any vegetables into your evening unless you get the cliche dinner salad. Your choices are fat pastas like linguine or rigatoni or massive amounts of bread flattened out on a pan. Starch, starch, starch. They don't have any capellini. Spaghetti is the thinnest pasta they serve. I finally broke down and ordered spaghetti so as to not make my family uncomfortable by not eating, the menu was so underwhelming. When it arrived, there was barely any sauce on it. They don't make the pasta fresh in-house, so I could've done better at home. Definitely not worth the $12. Then I asked for more sauce and the nice waitress brought it out and when I finally had a decent amount of sauce on my pasta I could finally taste it -- it was very, very SALTY. Salt does not make up for lack of umami, but that seems to be the operating idea here. We ordered the focaccia bread for the table. It's their pizza without toppings. It tasted like cardboard. I love good thin-crust pizza. This wasn't good. It wasn't crisp and it wasn't buoyantly yummy or flavorful. It was dull, lifeless and rubbery. I don't know what else to say. The menu is limited to fat pastas and tasteless flatbreads with some tomato on them. Oh sure, there's a couple of other things, but this is the majority of what's on the plate here. Neither the pasta nor the flat bread (aka pizza) tasted good. The sauce was way too salty and the carbs were tasteless with a terrible texture. Take a look at all of the posted photos. What do you see? Wheat and tomato - predominantly - over and over and over. If you're going to do mainly that, wheat and tomato, you better make it exquisite. Make the pasta homemade at least so it tastes fresh instead of giving it the role of edible holder for the tomato sauce. Talk to the french about making good-tasting bread and then be the *best* at it... if that's the whole focus of your restaurant. Our waitress was nice so I just bit my tongue and didn't say a word. I would never eat here again.
