  • BEWARE AND STAY AWAY! I concur with the other reviews on here. Early one morning, I awoke to a broken refrigerator. At the time, we were between home warranties and I obviously needed help immediately. My first call was to a business I was familiar with but they didn't open until 9am. A-1 came up in a Google search and like the other reviewers, they offered a 25% discount on labor and most importantly, they had early hours. I was able to have someone at my house in 2 hours. Fast forward to the repair. The guy came and opened up the top of our fridge (it is a high end refrigerator so it's not like I expected a $50 repair). He proceeded to tell me how dusty and dirty it was and that the compressor needed to be replaced. He told me that standard maintenance was that this top part needed to be opened up and cleaned and had we had a home warranty, they likely wouldn't have covered the repair. Anyway, are you sitting down for the quote - $685 for the repair!!! He told me that the part was over $500 and the labor was the rest. He, of course, gave me the 25% "discount," but the bill still came to $625. What choice did I have? I don't know about refrigerators and I didn't want to wait to call someone else so I told him to go ahead. I kid you not, he was at my house for less than 30 minutes. After he left, the cost was just wearing on me so I looked up the part online (because the compressor he removed was left on my table) and it was $125 BRAND NEW on Ebay!!! Granted, I didn't have a week to wait to get a new part but I found others for about $150. I was absolutely disgusted. Additionally, I located the manual to my fridge and it said NOTHING about the kind of maintenance he was talking about. What a liar the guy was. I felt so taken advantage of, and just to be fair about how overpriced they are, when my dryer broke about 2-3 weeks later, I asked that repair guy about my fridge. He actually called it into the office and it would have been $175 to fix it! Please, whatever you do, do NOT call them unless you're absolutely desperate at 7am and no one else is open. I will say that the fridge has continued to work properly so he obviously knew what we was doing but that cost is absolutely exorbitant and an incredible rip off. They charge nowhere near what other reputable businesses do.
