| - This was my first, and likely last experience at a Hash House A Go Go. It failed to live up to the hype in my opinion.
My husband had biscuits and gravy, which he said was "fine." That doesn't seem to be an impressive review for the price. I had the buttermilk flapjacks, which apparently is one large flapjack. The problem there is that it seems to get cold too quickly. Mine apparently was already cooling before they plopped down the ball of butter on top, because it didn't melt. I dragged it around the top for awhile, then just scraped it off to the edge of the plate. I was kind of expecting thick, light and fluffy flapjack(s), but what I got was more of a McFlapjack if you know what I mean. It had that heavy and a little rubbery consistency. It may have started as flour, milk, eggs, etc, but I don't think that happened in this city. I kinda think the mix comes in big hug and they just pour it out onto the griddle.
In all fairness, I came here expecting a breakfast place, and what I got was a bar with an identity crisis. It doesn't seem to know if its a bar or a barn. The waiter's shirt said something about "Farm Food." I guess their farm is in downtown Los Angeles or something. I'm not sure anyone there has done more than drive past a freeway exit that leads eventually to a farm. They seem to be relying on huge portions rather than quality food.
