One day my 2007 Infiniti decided not to start. I found out the battery was dead. So i got a boost and took it straight to my local mechanic. He did some tests and diagnosed that the battery is ok and the problem originates from the alternator. Alternator repairs range from $500 to $700.
Since i had a feeling that his diagnosis was incorrect i decided to take it to Midas Richmond Hill since I had changed my oil a few times at this location and they seemed knowledgeable and organized.
I left my vehicle with a mechanic named Bobby and left. He tested my charging system and realized the issue was with the battery.
He offered me a battery change. I got Interstate MTP35 batteries for $155 before taxes. According to interstate website the MSRP is $180. So the deal seemed fair to me.
They also charge $65 for labour for testing the system and changing the battery.
(by the way they charge a $49 diagnosis fee but if you repair it through them it'll be waived)
They repaired the car in a very speedy manner and I got it right on the promised time. This was very important for me as i needed my car for work. the good thing was they called me 3 times during the repair to update me or get permissions for repairs.
Also they inspected the whole vehicle and found a safety issue which was hidden (a loose bearing in the wheel). Bobby took the time to explain what the issue was and gave me an estimate without pushing me into it.
I am very happy with them. If you are ok to pay more money but get very smooth and reliable service and save time i would suggest Midas. Of course it is always good to double check the parts prices with other retailers but I can say that I trust them to a great extent.
