| - The hotel is located on the top floors of a business complex/subway; depending on whether you use the parking structure below, you will need to use two elevators to make it to the hotel. Also, self-parking is $24 a day but if you want to come in and out throughout the day, it's extra. I don't know if that's the norm in Montreal/Canada but it was annoying to pay extra to just be able to drive around.
Hotel - the lobby is very nice and has views of the gardens and outdoor pool/hot tub. It also has a restaurant and a breakfast area that you need your keycard to access. The halls to access the rooms are very dreary, particularly the grey and beige carpets. The rooms are basic, clean but nothing extraordinary. Some face towards the gardens and pool and others into the city.
Food - the breakfast option is the average continental breakfast: breads, scrambled eggs, a breakfast meat (usually so-so sausage), homefries, cereals, fruit and juices. I ordered from the restaurant for dinner once and was impressed by the quality of food - particularly the calamari - but the prices were high.
Pool - the pool is outdoor and heated. It can get hectic the later it is and although I saw a lifeguard on duty during the day, I'm not sure if that remains the case later on. At night, there appeared to be no monitoring as some guests were openly smoking weed and another guy dove into the pool with a lit cigarette. There's also a swimming lane but most people seemed to ignore that and splash around as they see fit.
Location - the location was decent. You're above a train station and directly across from another. The business complex below has some cheaper food options too and you're within walking distance of some restaurants and several fast food options. Finally, you're 15-25 minutes from several museums, churches, shopping and the river.
The hotel is definitely overpriced and the parking situation hampers your ability to explore, unless you're willing to pay more of course. Although there are no major gripes, it also did very little to differentiate itself from other hotels in the area.
